TWU environment students showing a lamprey they just found in the Salmon River
Rivers Day was held on Sept. 29 at Williams Park. Despite the rain, families came out to enjoy 25 interactive displays and activity booths including: bird-house building, ‘Creek Peek’ of juvenile salmon and aquatic bugs, stream-side tree planting, Stream Care Puppet Theatre, life-sized salmon board game, All Star Circus and live performances by the Genuine Jug Band, Tony Prophet, and Eli’s Circus.
Rivers Day is an annual event and a joint initiative between Langley Environmental Partners Society and the Township of Langley. The Salmon River Enhancement Society hosted the free barbecue lunch with help from the Aldergrove Credit Union, Otter Co-op, Bonetti Meats and R.E. MacDonalds. Thanks very much to everyone who participated.
